Here are some things we recommend in regards to having a website. Whether you currently have a website or are considering starting one, these products/services will definitely benefit you and get you started on the right path.
If you are going to have your own website, you will need web hosting. There are tons of different web hosting options. So many to choose from, which one do I use? Well, believe me when I tell you, we have tried a lot of them! Shared hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated server hosting are the main types of web hosting. The web hosting company we recommend is Arvixe. Out of all the web hosting companies, Arvixe gives you the most bang for your buck in all the different hosting options. They give you one domain for free and for life, as long as you continue to have a hosting plan with them. You are able to privatize your domain for free. Many other companies charge for that feature. The servers are state-of-the-art and have a 99.9% uptime. Plus, they offer a 60 day money back guarantee. Arvixe has 24/7 customer support and the people there are extremely helpful.
WordPress. That’s it. WordPress is the number one website/blog publishing platform in the world and it’s simple to use.

Listen to the Lets Trash Talk podcast? Do you like what you hear? Well, we would like to let you know what equipment we use or have used to record the Lets Trash Talk podcast. As always, we wouldn’t recommend something that we don’t use ourselves.
Over the course of the podcast, we have pretty much used two different microphones. Both microphones are the condenser type. There are primarily two types of microphones: condenser and dynamic. While many podcasters recommend dynamic microphones, such as the Heil PR40, condenser microphones sound great and are also more affordable. Condenser microphones do pick up a lot of sound, but as long as you are recording in a relatively quiet environment, the result will sound good. Both microphones we recommend are XLR connected, not USB.
One microphone used on the Lets Trash Talk podcast is the Behringer C-1 Condenser Microphone. This is a great mic for the price. It is a cardioid mic, meaning it will mostly pick up sound that is in front of it. If you’re on a budget, this microphone won’t let you down.
Another microphone we predominately use on the Lets Trash Talk podcast is the MXL 770. The MXL 770 is a great microphone. The sound quality is superb. It is also a cardioid mic. While a little more money than the Behringer C-1, the MXL 770 is worth every penny. It comes in a hard case and with a shock mount. The shock mount helps prevent any vibrations from being picked up by the microphone.
It is very important to note that no matter what microphone you get, whether a condenser or dynamic, you will need a pop filter. Pop filters help prevent that loud bass sound when saying words that start with ‘P’, ‘B’, etc.
On the Lets Trash Talk podcast, we use the Behringer Xenyx 1204USB mixer. This mixer is definitely affordable. You need a mixer like this one that has the ability to power condenser microphones. There are enough inputs to have multiple hosts, guests, or even add a sound board. The sounds that are processed by this mixer will be sent to a recording device via a USB cable.
Okay, you have the microphones and the mixer. You need something to record the sound onto. We use a computer. However, in order to record onto your computer, software is needed. Not only does the software record the sound, software can be used to edit the recording. Depending on your budget, there are multiple options for software.
The free option would be Audacity. Audacity is a decent sound recording and editing program. Plus, you can’t beat the price. If you’re just starting out and on a budget, Audacity is the one for you. Audacity does contain a bunch of features for post production editing. Download the official Audacity program.
The paid options are programs like Garage Band (for Mac) or Adobe Audition (for both Mac and PC). If you own a Mac, Garage Band might already be installed or you can purchase it via the Mac App Store. Adobe Audition can be purchased from Adobe’s website. Adobe offers a free trial that typically lasts 30 days. Both these programs have more features and effects than the free Audacity program.
When you record a podcast, you can’t host the audio file on your website. Well, you could, but don’t! If you’re on shared hosting, no matter what company you decide to go with, listeners won’t effectively be able to listen to your show. Maybe if one person is listening there won’t be a problem. What happens when dozens or hundreds are listening? Your website will crash and your website hosting company will be quite upset with you. Depending on the hosting company, you might get kicked out.
This is why you need a media host. The Lets Trash Talk podcast uses Libsyn as the media host. Libysn has many different plan levels and they are very reliable. Plus, the biggest thing is they offer rolling storage. This means, depending on the monthly storage plan you select, when a new month arrives, previous month’s episodes are archived and your available monthly storage is renewed. Check out Libsyn today.

The Keurig K-Cup machine has been a huge help in keeping us awake. It’s so fast, convenient, and efficient. Don’t drink coffee? Well, not only can you brew coffee, you can also brew tea, apple cider, lemonade, and plus a huge variety of other drinks. Sometimes we even use just the machine to prepare a quick Cup O Noodles soup.
Nector of the Gods
Everyone needs water to survive. Tap water, for the most part, is just terrible. This is what we use to drink fresh, cool tasting water. It also is used to fill up the Keurig machine because the quality of water is a major factor in the taste of your coffee. Plus, bottled water gets to expensive after a while.
