We’ve all experienced it at some point. I’m talking about bad customer service. Everyone has heard the old saying “the customer is always right.” Some of the top companies seem to forget this phrase. They can employ incompetent customer service representatives or even rude employees. This often leads to a bad customer service experience.
Bad Customer Service Experiences
One of the top companies that is known for bad customer service experiences is Comcast. An audio recording of one such experience went viral. The poor customer just wanted to cancel his cable service. Yet, an unrelenting customer retention representative WOULD NOT accept the fact that the customer was requesting a cancellation.
Comcast came out and said they do not approve of the behavior their customer service retention rep exhibited. However, this rep was just following a script on how to respond to any possible customer cancellation request. With every customer cancellation that occurs, the odds that the retention representative will lose his job increases.
Comcast customer service representatives have been notorious for changing the names on bill of customers that have angered them. These name changes include asshole, dummy, super bitch, and whore. Isn’t that a wonderful surprise to find in your mailbox? It’s an even more awkward situation trying to get your bill name changed back to your correct name.
Messing with customers isn’t unique to Comcast. A Colorado Best Buy customer dropped off his phone to be repaired. Soon afterwards, the customer’s friends and family were contacting him. Turns out, the Best Buy employees wrote on Facebook as the customer that he was coming out as gay. In actuality, the customer is straight.
The restaurant industry is also notorious for bad customer service experiences. The retaliation by angered employees varies. Some food workers intentionally do something unspeakable to the customer’s food order. Others write derogatory remarks on the receipts to describe customers. Regarding receipts, customers are called things like fat chick, anal bitch, and even lady chinky eyes.
The Customer Isn’t Alway Right
Customer service is a two way street. The customer service representative might be trying his/her best to help, but the customer is just plain obnoxious. Within the episode, two examples are played where the customer is the wrong party in the situation. Nothing positive will get accomplished if the attitude of the customer is poor.
Customer Service Tips
The best way to get great customer service when phoning a company is to be respectful to the person you are speaking to. You should have a realistic expectation about what the company and customer service representative can do for you. Recording the call is a great idea so that you can have proof of what was said to you. If all else fails, don’t be afraid to ask for a supervisor.

An Illinois bar has a unique feature in its women’s bathroom, a two way mirror. The owner of the bar refuses to have it removed and would rather burn the bar down. Is this a harmless joke or a violation of privacy?
